Kevin Durant clarified that he wants a move, narrowing his list of preferred destinations, but the Phoenix Suns are not impressed with the offers. According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Suns have little interest in the players the San Antonio Spurs offer in trade talks for the 15-time All-Star.
While players like Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and veteran Harrison Barnes were part of the talks, none moved the needle for the Suns. The front office doesn’t see the value, particularly, with how those players overlap with their current roster. However, according to ESPN’s Analyst Windhorst, the Suns are not satisfied with the deal they are getting from the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets.

Durant, who averaged 26.6 points and six rebounds per game last season, showed interest in joining the Spurs, mainly due to the opportunity to play alongside rising star Victor Wembanyama. Despite that, negotiations between the two teams remain stalled. Phoenix reportedly views the Spurs’ proposed trade packages as lacking real value, making a deal unlikely.
Phoenix Suns Eye On Bigger Return, San Antonio Spurs Hold Back Key Assets

Vassell might be the most appealing name from San Antonio’s offer, but his role would clash with stars like Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. That makes him tricky in Phoenix. More importantly, the Suns are not open to including their top assets, like Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle or the No. 2 overall pick in this month’s draft.
Fisher added, the notion now of surrendering newly named Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle or the No. 2 selection in this month’s draft is simply a non-starter. San Antonio wants to protect its future, even while exploring a potential deal for Durant.

The Suns gave up a major package to land Durant from Brooklyn in 2023. Now, they want a substantial return if they move on from him. Unless a better offer arrives, Phoenix is likely to hold off. With the draft approaching, trade talks could heat up, but there is no deal in sight for now.
