Tyrese Haliburton’s game-winning hit for the Indiana Pacers against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals threw the basketball world into a frenzy. Pacers legend Reggie Miller posted a video of his family’s reaction to the game-winning play on Instagram while they watched the action from his home.
Most of the neutrals also responded that way after the game. A guy developing a habit of making huge shots in the playoffs had a beautiful experience on the biggest platform.
Reggie Miller posted the video from the security cam on his Instagram story. He also wrote, “I think this was all of Pacers Nation at the closing of Game 1!!! Well done, Tyrese Haliburton.”

This playoffs, Haliburton has now made four game-winning or go-ahead baskets in the last five seconds of regular or overtime. With 0.3 seconds left, the Pacers led 111-110 thanks to a long two-pointer over Thunder player Cason Wallace in the fourth quarter. It would also be the last score and their first lead of the evening.
That night, Reggie Miller was undoubtedly delighted, and he probably wishes he were calling the Finals, too. However, having times like these and being able to watch the games with his family are also very significant.

The Pacers defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, who were led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, in the NBA Finals in 2000 under Reggie Miller’s leadership. Despite their best efforts, they lost that series in six games.
Miller’s team has already done something that Haliburton’s Pacers haven’t. This squad is ahead 1-0 in the series, while that one had lost to the Lakers 2-0 and had never held a lead. Fans are beginning to believe that this year may be the year they finally take home their first NBA championship.
In the last five seconds of regulation or overtime in the playoffs, Haliburton has now made five game-winning or game-ending shots in his career. With just LeBron James (eight) ahead of them, it ties them with Miller for the second-most since the 1997 playoffs.
Miller has undoubtedly been identified as the Pacers’ heir apparent. It will be intriguing to watch if Haliburton can achieve what Miller was unable to: a championship.
