After winning the NBA title last season, the Boston Celtics were hoping to repeat their success this year. However, their playoff run was cut short as the team was eliminated in the second round by the New York Knicks.
With the season now over, the Celtics have already shifted their focus to the next one. According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the team is not expected to move Derrick White or Jaylen Brown this summer.
“Neither Jayson Tatum nor Jaylen Brown are on their way out of Boston, league sources told,” Siegel wrote.
In another report, Siegel also addressed Derrick White’s situation.

“League sources are insistent the Celtics have given zero indications that parting ways with Derrick White this summer is a possibility. Boston views White as an essential core player alongside Tatum and Brown,” he stated.
Following their championship win, the Celtics tried to keep their core intact in preparation for defending their title. Brown received a five-year, $285 million contract extension last offseason. Derrick White also agreed to a deal reportedly worth over $125 million. Tatum also received a five-year, $314 million extension.

The Celtics star was unanimously selected to the First Team by all 100 global media member voters. Joining Tatum on the prestigious list are Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Donovan Mitchell.
This marks the fourth time Tatum has earned First-Team honors. He posted stellar numbers during the regular season, averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and six assists per game. While there’s still no clear timeline for Tatum’s return to the court, the recognition is still a well-deserved achievement for him during a challenging time.
