The Dallas Mavericks aimed to return to championship contention by acquiring Anthony Davis last season. They sent their franchise cornerstone, Luka Doncic, to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for the star big man. The gamble, however, didn’t pay off as expected.
Despite the disappointment, the Mavericks are not retreating. Instead, they are reportedly looking ahead with aggressive plans for the upcoming season. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the team is now setting its sights on Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday.
“League sources say Dallas is expected to at least explore whether there are any feasible trade pathways to Boston’s Jrue Holiday — complicated as that would likely be given the three years and $104 million still left on Holiday’s contract,” Stein reported.

“One guy known as one of the greatest of all time, if not the greatest. It became a thing where you can’t even walk over it. You have to walk around it,” Davis explained.
Davis spent multiple seasons alongside LeBron in a Lakers uniform and had a front-row seat to such routines. Together, the duo captured the 2020 NBA championship. Still, despite that shared glory, the Lakers fan base continues to process Davis’ recent trade from Los Angeles.
