Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly entering a phase of his career where he’s more open to exploring new opportunities than ever before. For the first time, the two-time MVP expresses interest in aligning himself with another elite star. The Golden State Warriors are among the teams generating buzz as Giannis’ next destination.
NBA insider Logan Murdock revealed that Antetokounmpo has shown a strong interest in teaming up with Stephen Curry. According to Murdock, league officials sensed Giannis’s notable curiosity about one day sharing the court with the Warriors’ iconic point guard.
“There’s a feeling that Giannis was very, very intrigued by the idea of one day being a teammate of Stephen Curry. There was at least a feeling that Giannis wanted to play with Steph. That was the feeling a lot of officials got during that soiree,” Murdock said.
Giannis and Curry have long shared mutual admiration on and off the court. Their friendship and respect were fully displayed during this year’s All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. Giannis was reportedly one of the few non-Warriors players to attend Curry’s exclusive private event.
Insider Reveals Warriors Lacking Firepower For Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade

Despite the interest, Murdock pointed out a significant hurdle that could block any serious attempt by the Warriors to land Antetokounmpo. As appealing as the idea might be to both Giannis and Golden State. However, the Warriors may be unable to make it happen because they lack the assets to acquire the Greek Freak.

“It doesn’t seem, at this point, that the Golden State Warriors are in the Giannis sweepstakes. I don’t think they will be, not because they don’t want to, but more so because they just don’t have the assets to get him,” he added.
Seemingly, the divorce between Giannis and the Bucks is crucial to start fresh from next season. It remains to be seen whether the Bucks star will honestly part ways with Milwaukee and if any team, including the Warriors, can realistically assemble the pieces to land him.
