The Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks both saw humiliating playoff exits this season. And needless to say, both teams are getting a lot of attention going into the offseason.
First, it was Giannis Antetokounmpo who was heavily favored to see a trade, and now it is his teammate, Brook Lopez, who is said to be on a roll.
According to a report from ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Warriors are eyeing Lopez to fill the gap at the center position.
As an unrestricted free agent, Lopez is attracting interest ahead of the legal tampering period that begins on June 30. He has recently concluded a two-year, $48 million contract, and the Warriors could make the move.

Would Lopez solve Golden State’s problems? 🤔

The 37-year-old star would bring a ton of experience as a rim-protecting big who can also space the floor, filling a need that the Warriors have struggled to address. Although he has lost some athleticism, he could serve as an effective stop-gap solution.
This way, they could allow Draymond Green to play less at the center spot and help younger players like Trayce Jackson-Davis and Quinten Post to develop.

The Warriors are in a position where they could offer Lopez a fully guaranteed mid-level exception if they choose to pursue him seriously.
Additionally, speculation exists around a potential reunion with the Los Angeles Lakers, where Lopez previously played for one season. Reports indicate that the Lakers may have already communicated with him.
Warriors Eyeing Multiple Top Players This Offseason

Whether or not the Warriors would lock in Lopez this offseason, their woes at the center position could not be ignored. And with Stephen Curry’s health being a primary concern, they need reliable names.
Reports have suggested that the Warriors are particularly interested in acquiring Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick White from the Celtics.
Logan Murdoch of The Ringer noted the Warriors’ interest in Derrick White during an appearance on The Zach Lowe Show.
“Another guy for the Warriors to look at going forward is Derrick White. I’ve talked about how depressing trading Derrick White would be for Boston, and the sort of dilemma they face in terms of, ‘How much of a reset do we really want to have, and who we want to be back here when Tatum comes back?’ Who has trade value in the interim and where (does) Derrick White fit in that conversation?” Murdoch said.
This leads to significant consideration for the Celtics, who might need to make tough decisions due to the new CBA. Trade options could include Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, or Kristaps Porzingis.
The situation appears to be particularly pressing for the Celtics. As Lowe stated, trading White would be a challenging choice for Boston. They now have a tough question of how to rebuild while keeping the team competitive with star player Jayson Tatum on the roster.
The dilemma revolves around evaluating trade value and fitting players into the team’s future plans.
