On ESPN Sunday, Brian Windhorst added a twist to the narrative. Windhorst stated that the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers are lurking to bag Durant for the upcoming season.

Toronto is reportedly building a strong core with Brandon Ingram, Scottie Barnes, and RJ Barrett. Durant’s presence could boost their Championship aspirations. Earlier, Marc Stein reported that the Raptors are quietly positioning themselves as a dark horse in the race to acquire Kevin Durant.
The two-time NBA champion and former MVP still holds immense value, even after the Suns’ playoff disappointments. While several teams have expressed interest, insiders say Durant has a short list of preferred destinations. ESPN’s Shams Charania mentioned the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets topping that list.

“Phoenix is aggressive in pursuit of a) trading Kevin Durant and b) regaining full control of their draft capital starting with the No. 10 pick in next month’s draft, team sources said. Since the conclusion of the season, Houston has fielded several calls from Phoenix, who have since gradually lowered their asking price for Durant,” Iko wrote.
The Rockets are looking to add veteran leadership and scoring punch to a young and promising roster that includes Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Amen Thompson. Acquiring Durant could not only boost Houston’s chances of returning to playoff contention but also help accelerate their rebuild with a proven winner.
