There’s hardly any enticing trade that the Los Angeles Lakers did not land themselves a ‘favourite’ this offseason. And while the rest of the league is catching its breath after watching the 2025 NBA Draft’s top picks, rumors link LA to land a former Warriors champ.
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly in discussions to trade for Andrew Wiggins to strengthen their roster alongside LeBron James and Luka Doncic. According to Bovada, the Lakers emerge with a +185 rating as a clear fron-runner to land Wiggins in a blockbuster trade.

The Lakers are reportedly engaging with the Miami Heat, who are interested in Rui Hachimura and potentially a second-year player, Dalton Knecht, as part of the trade package.
After winning a championship in 2020, the Warriors traded him to Miami in February this year. He’s averaging a good 19 points per game and helping the team make the playoffs.
Lakers Will Have To Do The Maths If They Want Wiggins

Although he is 30 this year, he may not be in his prime. But he is seen as a valuable third option for teams with established star players.

Hachimura had a productive season too, averaging 13.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while becoming a reliable shooter. However, he might not be enough to entice the Heat to part with Wiggins.
The Lakers may need to include Dalton Knecht, who had a promising rookie season. He averaged 9.1 points per game and shot 37.6% from three-point range.
Given that Knecht is on an affordable rookie contract, he could be an appealing asset for the Heat. If the Lakers are unwilling to let go of Hachimura, Knecht, or another valuable player, they may have to consider including future draft picks to make the trade work.
