The Los Angeles Lakers are off to an aggressive offseason as they search for a key piece to fit in the center court.
The Lakers have recently snagged Deandre Ayton along with Jaxson Hayes. However, there’s still some work to be done before they can truly feel ready to chase another championship.
With a little bit of cash left to play with, they might get another free agent, and trading for a rotation player could also be on the table.
According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Lakers are reportedly having their eyes on former Golden State Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton.
“De’Anthony Melton has been a key name linked to Los Angeles throughout the offseason. And there is a growing expectation that the Lakers will land him in free agency,” Siegel wrote(Via ClutchPoints).
De’Anthony Melton has had a positive plus/minus in 6 consecutive seasons.

The lone season he had a negative +/- was during the 2018-2019 season (rookie year).

However, Melton is someone LA is already looking for. He stands at a good 6’3″ and weighs 200 pounds, something similar to the former Laker D’Angelo Russell. However, the team should be careful of a recent torn ACL injury.

Rumors Land Los Angeles Lakers’ Interest In Warriors

While landing Melton sounds like a plan, the Lakers might be about to lose another key interest to the Warriors.
According to The Stein Line’s report, the Bay Area team could outbid the Lakers for Al Horford.
“All signs, for the record, continue to point to Al Horford landing with Golden State … eventually. Sunday will be the first day of the 2025-26 salary cap year that NBA teams can make most free agent signings and trades official,” the report read.
Although it would be an interesting buildup to see following this offseason, as the Lakers’ front office is seemingly going through a hectic schedule.
