The Toronto Raptors are going through a major shakeup. Looking to better their upcoming NBA campaigns, they decided to make some radical changes. Unfortunately, most of them have only invoked a negative reaction from the fans. Initially, they got done with Masai Ujiri. For many, Ujiri was the best president in the franchise’s history. And now, the Raptors have shocked the NBA world again. They are reportedly looking to sign Ben Simmons in free agency.
In a recent update from Michael Grange of ‘Sportsnet,’ the Raptors are keen on signing Simmons. Simmons is likely to be offered a veteran’s minimum contract. And such a statement has sent ripples through the Raptors’ fans. Simmons, who was once a star player, is now only a shadow of himself. He has seen his form declining consistently over the past seasons. Thus, fans are very much confused as to why the Raptors are trying to rope him in.
“Another name that might be out there is Ben Simmons, the oft-injured former No.1 pick who cobbled together some interesting box-score totals (9.2 assists, 7.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per 36 minutes) in a limited role over 51 games split between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers,” Grange wrote.
The Raptors could show free agent interest in Ben Simmons on a veteran’s minimum contract, per @michaelgrange (https://t.co/XUb7K3ROFa).

Simmons had a forgettable game against the Atlanta Hawks back in 2021. Since the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Simmons’ form has taken a steady dip. What was more perplexing for the fans was that the Raptors already had several younger athletes who match Simmons’ productivity. Meanwhile, the Raptors are not the only team that has Simmons on their radar.
