The Philadelphia 76ers faced a tough 2024-25 NBA season that fell far below expectations. Even with stars like Joel Embiid and Paul George on their side, injuries plagued the team, preventing them from securing a playoff position.
The 76ers ended the season sitting in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, posting a disappointing record of 24 wins against 58 losses. In the wake of this lackluster performance, intrigue grows around George’s future with the team. Recently, insider Andy Larsen reported that the 76ers are eager to trade George to shake up their draft position, but a significant obstacle remains in their way.
“I do think it’s true that the Philadelphia 76ers are interested in trading down to number five, potentially, if they can get off the Paul George deal and that contract.” Andy Larsen said in a recent interview on the Locked on Jazz podcast. “I don’t think necessarily that may not make a lot of sense for the Jazz, given how long that contract is and how iffy Paul George was. I don’t think the Jazz are going to take that offer, but I do think that’s an offer that has been presented.”
The 76ers have reportedly been in contact with the Utah Jazz to trade down to the No. 5 pick in a deal involving Paul George.

The trade has reportedly been presented to the Jazz, however there is hesitation to accept it due to PG’s long contract.

Larsen stated that the trade proposal involving George is currently under consideration for the Jazz, but there is a complication. They are reluctant to proceed mainly due to George’s long contract.
