The 2025 NBA lottery has been released, and with it, things have become quite interesting. While the Dallas Mavericks won the initial draft pick, the San Antonio Spurs will be calling the second name. Quite expectedly, the NBA realm is abuzz with speculation about who they can pick as number 2. While a lot of names are being speculated, a recent report has some interesting news coming up.
According to an update from ‘Oh No He Didn’t,’ as put forth by ‘NBA Central,’ the Spurs might opt for Dylan Harper. It is believed that the Spurs have big plans for Harper, combining him with De’Aaron Fox and Steph Castle.
“They are not pursuing trades from what we’re hearing. They think that they can play Harper together with Steph Castle and De’Aaron Fox in the same backcourt,” read the report.

Surely, Dylan Harper will be a great pick for the San Antonio Spurs. Playing for Rutgers, Harper has been a standout. He has been averaging 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in his current season. Harper’s incredible on-court performance includes his shot creation, scoring ability, and an elite skill set. Meanwhile, with Harper getting the priority from the Spurs, this means they will not be eligible for the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.
San Antonio Spurs To Overlook Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade?

It is no surprise that Giannis Antetokounmpo will be leaving the Milwaukee Bucks next season. And ahead of the same, the San Antonio Spurs were quite interested in landing a trade with the potential NBA MVP. However, after winning the 2nd draft pick, the possibility of Antetokounmpo coming into the Spurs’ mix looks quite distant.
