Following a disappointing end to their season, the Milwaukee Bucks are making major adjustments to reshape their roster. On Tuesday, they made headlines by waiving star guard Damian Lillard to acquire Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers.
Lillard, despite his Achilles injury, has already started to attract significant interest from teams across the league. One of the most notable franchises to show early interest is the Golden State Warriors, as revealed by NBA insider Marc J. Spears.
During an appearance on NBA Today, Spears painted a vivid picture of Lillard’s childhood connection to the Golden State franchise. He suggested that a potential move to Golden State would not only be strategic but also deeply personal for the former Bucks star.
“Of the many teams that reached out to Damian Lillard, the Warriors were one of those teams. This is a guy who grew up at games at Oracle Arena, sneaking in the media room, getting sodas. Grew up a Warriors fan. I know it’s very interesting to Bay Area people,” Spears said.

Meanwhile, the Warriors have remained quiet in the current free agency period. They’re yet to sign any new players.
However, their ambitions were made clear earlier this year when they acquired Jimmy Butler in a high-profile February trade. Adding Lillard to a lineup that already includes Butler and Stephen Curry would likely transform Golden State into a major title contender.

Damian Lillard’s Bucks Journey

Before joining Milwaukee, Damian Lillard had spent his entire career with the Portland Trail Blazers. His move to the Bucks came in 2023 via a three-team blockbuster deal that sent ripples throughout the league.
Lillard just wrapped up his second season with the Bucks. In his first year with the team, he averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game. He followed that up with another strong campaign, averaging 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game this past season.
The Bucks finished the regular season with a 48-34 record by earning the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. However, their playoff journey was cut short as they were knocked out in the first round by the Indiana Pacers.
