The Boston Celtics are facing some tough questions after their recent playoff exit against the New York Knicks.
What has long been seen as an untouchable scenario to trade their one star player could soon change this offseason.
According to Forbes’ NBA insider Evan Sidery, the Celtics All-Star guard Jaylen Brown might not be as “untouchable” as fans once thought.
“There’s a sense among rival teams that Jaylen Brown is not completely untouchable on the Celtics’ roster. It would take a mammoth offer for Boston to even consider trading Brown, but the possibility certainly appears in play,” Sidery tweeted.

Brown has been with the Celtics since he was drafted third overall in 2016, and he’s had quite the career. He went on to play over 600 regular-season games to snagging the MVP title in the 2024 NBA Finals.
However, the possibility of him getting traded away would not be a straightforward scenario. It would take any tea “a mammoth offer” to move him as Sidery mentioned.

Boston Celtics Would Put Extra Care While Trading Jaylen Brown

Despite the rumors, the Celtics would put extra carefulness while detailing the Jaylen Brown situation.
He’s entering the second year of his five-year, $285 million contract. The Celtics are facing significant payroll challenges, with a projected $500 million payroll next season. And trading Brown could alleviate some of these financial burdens while potentially yielding a substantial return.
With Jayson Tatum sidelined for the entire 2025-26 season, Brown stands out as the Celtics’ best player. His defense and scoring have been impressive, but there are concerns about his playmaking and turnover rates.
The decision to trade Brown ultimately rests on the evaluation of team management, particularly Brad Stevens.
