The Golden State Warriors are reportedly looking to reshape their roster with new guard additions. After failing to land Kevin Durant at the trade deadline, the Warriors are focusing on adding another talent to support Stephen Curry. As per Clutchpoints’ Brett Siegel’s report, two names are at the top of the Warriors’ wishlist.
“Have heard Herb Jones and Nickeil Alexander-Walker talk for Golden State within last couple of days,” Seigel said. “Warriors certainly looking for upgrades in free agency this week and potentially on trade market, if the price is right.”
Not a report whatsoever. Just two names Golden State has discussed leading up to a busy trade period and free agency.

Jones, a 2024 first-team all-defensive selection, offers his elite defense. Even though he struggled with his three-point shooting this past season, he averaged 10.3 points and 1.9 steals per game. His affordable $53.8 million contract makes him a pair with Draymond Green in the Warriors’ depth. At the same time, free agent Alexander-Walker is often compared to Derrick white for his potential on a championship team. His skills on both ends of the court could make him a suitable fit with Jones.
The Warriors are one step ahead in making moves to improve their roster this offseason. As free agency approaches, the team will look to add key contributors to stay competitive in the Western Conference.
Gary Payton’s Future Seems Uncertain With The Golden State Warriors

Payton, a core presence on the Warriors’ 2022 championship team, could be included in the trade talks. The big man could end his tenure in Golden State and become an unrestricted free agent on Monday. Sources told NBC Sports Bay Arena that his return is looking “doubtful.”

“Golden State still likes him, and there’s still a chance he’s back,” a source said. “But they have many moving parts as they work through the Jonathan Kuminga situation, so Gary could land elsewhere next season.”
The 6-foot-3 guard struggled with injuries last season. Though he missed 20 games, he averaged 15.5 points and two steals per 36 minutes. The team is interested in resigning the big man, but Payton’s future further complicates Jonathon Kuminga’s situation.
If Payton parts ways, the Warriors must look for another addition to their perimeter defense.
