Damian Lillard’s unexpected setback surprised many. The veteran guard is undergoing rehab due to his torn Achilles injury, but the Bucks did not wait. After trading Damian Lillard, they are looking for a veteran to steer their backcourt.
According to NBA TV’s Chris Haynes, the Bucks are showing interest in 12-time All-Star Chris Paul and considering the big man as a potential replacement for Lillard. Paul, at 39, played all 82 games for the San Antonio Spurs last season. He averaged 8.8 points, 7.4 assists, and 3.6 rebounds and remained one of the most experienced point guards on the trade market.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks also acknowledged the same about Paul. Marks also issued, “I don’t know if Milwaukee fits what Chris is trying to do at this stage of his career, especially with it being so far from home, which I know is a priority for him.”
However, as Paul shows a strong interest in staying close to family in the Los Angeles Lakers, the deal will not be easy for the Bucks. “The Charlotte Hornets are trying to make a play on Chris Paul as well, but I’m told he wants to stay closer to home,” Chris Haynes shared.
The Bucks will try to secure Paul as much as possible, but it is still in doubt whether the Lakers’ guard will agree to the deal.

On Tuesday, Damian Lillard opens up on his setback with the Bucks, ending his two-year run with teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo. On Ramona Shelburne’s report that Giannis was excited about the team signing Myles Turner, he replied with a Jack Black gif from Nacho Libre. The post indicates his disbelief about the news.
Shelburne also mentioned that it is unknown whether Giannis is aware of Lillard’s release. Later, Haynes added that Giannis was not pleased with what had happened with the Bucks’ depth.

The response highlighted the bond between Giannis and Lillard that was shared beyond the court. As a free agent, Lillard will now focus on his recovery from a torn Achilles and come back strong whenever he is ready. Now the concern shifts to where he sees himself in the future.
