The post-season transfers are shaping up nicely. With the fate of Kevin Durant and others now decided, several more combinations are yet to be tested. One such name is Russell Westbrook. Playing for the Denver Nuggets in the past season, Westbrook has declined his player option. However, after trying to weigh in his options, the former Nuggets star has a unique question regarding his next team.
According to Marc J. Spears of ‘ESPN,’ Westbrook is eager to find a team “closer to home.” Spears also stated that Westbrook is still considering a switch to the Sacramento Kings as an option. Not only that, the Kings, too, are reportedly interested in acquiring the former Nuggets’ star.
“One thing I know he wants to do is be closer to home. The Kings are certainly interested in him,” said Spears.

Now then, the report might look pretty straightforward. But there are a host of issues to address. Westbrook hasn’t had a lot of teams trying to rope him in. However, right at the start, the Kings had a Zoom meeting with the NBA star. Unfortunately, after signing Dennis Schroder, the Kings did not go forward with Westbrook. Thus, if the reports of Spears are to be believed, then Sacramento would reportedly be backtracking. Meanwhile, Westbrook has two more teams that are closer to home. But things might not be as smooth as Westbrook would have wanted them to be.
Russell Westbrook Unlikely To End Up In Los Angeles

Westbrook has his family in Los Angeles. Thus, this means that two of the most viable options would be the Clippers and the Lakers. However, as a matter of fact, Westbrook has already been a part of both sides. And this is not the worst part.

For the Lakers, Westbrook had a forgettable season. Both parties were pretty much unhappy with the situation. However, while the situation was better with the Clippers, they are unlikely to bring him in. That’s because the Clippers are targeting Chris Paul. Thus, with a lot going on, it now remains to be seen what happens next.
