The Sacramento Kings made a big move earlier this year when they traded away De’Aaron Fox.
Now, as things stand, the Kings are in a desperate need of point guards, not one but two.
Recently, as per Grant Afseth of RG, the Kings are actively seeking to acquire Darius Garland and Trae Young this offseason.
There’s a real urgency for the Kings to find a long-term point guard solution this offseason, but there are some bumps in the road to consider.

However, Garland recently had toe surgery, which raises some concerns about how quickly he can recover. It’s unclear if he’ll be ready in time for the regular season. And if his recovery takes longer, he might miss training camp, making it harder for him to gel with new teammates.
Despite the injury issues, Garland had a strong season, averaging 20.6 points, 6.7 assists, and 2.9 rebounds. He played a big role in helping the Cavaliers secure the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Still, he did miss some playoff games due to a sprained toe.

Additionally, the Kings haven’t only set their sights on Garland. They’ve also had discussions with the Hawks about Trae Young. However, those talks have hit a snag recently.
According to Afseth, Sacramento is prioritizing Garland over Young.
Sacramento Kings Projected To Draft Duke Guard

The Sacramento Kings are facing a crucial offseason, primarily focusing on the point guard position.
While they’ll go back and forth on the said Garland-Young trade for sometime, the Kings are also looking at their opportunities in the 2025 NBA Draft.
In a recent mock draft by ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, he predicts that the Kings will select Tyrese Proctor, a guard from Duke, with their 42nd overall pick.
A lot of Sacramento Kings fans are discussing Scott Perry drafting Tyrese Proctor.

However, one prospect working out w/ the Kings today, 6’5 Guard TJ Bamba, catches my eye.

Siegel emphasizes the urgent need for backcourt assistance. And Proctor’s versatility as a combo guard, along with his high basketball IQ, could play a crucial role.
Proctor opted to return to Duke for his junior year instead of entering the previous draft and had a noteworthy season. He averaged 12.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.8 steals per game.
At 6-6, Proctor possesses the size advantage for a guard, complementing his scoring capability and understanding of the game.
