Being a New York Knicks fan is tough, tougher if you liked any of Tom Thibodeau’s time at the helm as a coach.
The Knicks made headlines in their offseason decision to part ways with head coach Thibodeau following their playoff exit. The move was unexpected and took everybody with surprise.
Many anticipated that Thibodeau would return after leading the team to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2000.
However, while it was obviously the team’s decision to sack Thibodeau, Karl-Anthony Towns became the ultimate victim. Fans, mainly on social media, are almost convinced that Towns played a major role in the firing.
Yahoo Sports’ Vince Goodwill recently reported that players are not happy with Tom’s way of using starters. He also said one specific player had issues with the coach, and the fingers indirectly pointed at KAT.
“A couple of players felt like Thibodeau played the starters too many minutes and felt he had an inability to adjust, sources said, and another player said he didn’t feel like he could play for Thibodeau if the coach returned next season,” Goodwill wrote.

As fans started speculating regarding the identity of the player who voiced these concerns, almost everybody was convinced it was Towns.

Knicks fans took to social media and widely concluded that Karl-Anthony Towns or Mikal Bridges was the player in question. Fans also pointed to Bridges’ previous comments about Thibodeau’s management of player minutes.

While it’s possible that other players shared these sentiments, the consensus among fans is that Towns is likely the source of these comments.
