On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks surprised the basketball world by signing Myles Turner. The deal cost them their key member, Damian Lillard. Lillard was recovering from a torn Achilles and was likely to miss the entire 2025-26 season. Lillard had two years left in his contract, but the Bucks will reportedly extend his $113 million contract over five years.
The Bucks consider Turner as a replacement for Brook Lopez, who just shifted to the Los Angeles Clippers. Turner averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks last season with the Indiana Pacers. According to Shams Charania, the Bucks had a four-year contract with Myles Turner worth around $107 million.

Turner, one of the big names on the free agent market, shockingly left the Indiana Pacers after a great playoff run. Even Giannis Antetokounmpo expressed his confusion by posting an ironic meme on social media.

As the next season approaches, all eyes will be on these two teams and both players. The decision might seem illogical, but it is based on other, bigger strategies behind whatever everyone notices. Ultimately, the on-court delivery will talk. If it goes according to plan, all the confusion and controversies will be dashed out eventually.
