The Minnesota Timberwolves claimed a 124-109 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday. However, before the game ended, there was a tense moment for fans as star player Anthony Edwards suffered an injury that caused him to exit the court with a towel covering his face.
The tension started late in the first half, when a fast-paced play led to a mid-air collision between Edwards and Suns’ superstar Kevin Durant. Tyus Jones attempted an outlet pass, which was intercepted by Edwards, who soared to grab the ball. Unfortunately, as both players went up for the catch, Durant’s elbow collided with Edwards’ face, striking him directly on the nose. The impact caused Edwards to fall to the floor, immediately covering his face.

For several minutes, the atmosphere in the arena was tense as Edwards remained on the floor, clutching his face. After being examined, Edwards was escorted to the locker room, and it seemed like the Timberwolves would have to finish the game without their star player.
Thankfully, the news wasn’t as dire as initially feared. Reports later confirmed that Edwards had suffered a nasal contusion, which is a bruising or swelling around the nose, rather than a more severe injury. After a brief period of rest and medical attention, Edwards return to the court.
