Carter Bryant is living his childhood dream. As he stepped into the San Antonio Spurs, he faced his childhood NBA legends.
The San Antonio Spurs picked Bryant as the 14th overall in the 2025 NBA draft. The 19-year-old rookie is becoming one of the intriguing rookies heading into the Summer League. He was compared with Spurs legend Sean Elliot when he played at Arizona. Now in the Spurs franchise, he will focus on making his name for himself through defense. As he said, “Defense is something I can do to get on the floor.”
“I walked into a breakfast, and Manu was there. Then I saw Timmy D and Coach Popovich, so I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ that’s my whole childhood just standing right in front of me. These dudes know my name,” Bryant expressed his wholesome moment.

“He’s got to be able to guard,” Spurs coach Mike Noyes said, “and he’ll find his way. He’s clear on his role, and (while) we don’t expect him to have all the answers, he’s got to set the tone on defense.”
Bryant is ready to contribute and stood out during the pre-draft process with his maturity and bright outlook on the floor. Though his offense still needs some improvements, he is a suitable fit for a solid three-and-D player. With bigger responsibility and expectations, the rookie can grow and deliver under pressure.
