After an incredible comeback in game 3 of the conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Minnesota Timberwolves faced disappointment once more by dropping game 4. In light of this, NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith issued a blunt warning to Anthony Edwards, making it clear that the stakes are high.
In an electrifying spectacle during Game 3, Edwards lit up the court with a phenomenal 30 points, six assists, and nine rebounds, driving the Timberwolves to a resounding 143-101 victory over the Thunder. However, things took a bit of a dip in Game 4, as he clocked in 41 minutes but only managed to snag 16 points, along with six assists and four rebounds. After the game, Smith candidly pointed out that Edwards needs to step up his game to match the level everyone knows he’s capable of.
“Now I love me some Ant-man. I always have and I think that he’s a future face of this league. But, let me be very clear. When you are a superstar in this league, you do not go into a game four down two one knowing you have to avoid a 3-1 series advantage to the position and you go into this game and you attempt only two shots in the entire first half… You got to be more aggressive than that,” Smith said.

Edwards’ struggles on the court led to the Timberwolves’ nail-biting defeat, with a score of 126-128 against the Thunder in Game 4.
Stephen A. Smith Calls Out Anthony Edwards For ‘Inexcusable’ Behavior

Even though his performance in Game 4 was somewhat lackluster, Edwards calmly expressed that he didn’t think he struggled and felt he played within the limits set by the defense. However, Smith jumped right in to deliver his hot take on Edwards’s remarks. In a recent episode of First Take, Smith didn’t hold back and went in on Edwards for his totally unacceptable behaviour after the Thunder’s victory.

“When your response is, ‘I don’t think I struggled, I made the right play,’ when it was a relatively pedestrian offensive performance for you, that’s inexcusable.” Smith said.
The Timberwolves are currently down 1-3 in the conference finals series against the Thunder. They will play Game 5 at Paycom Center.
