On Tuesday, the Miami Heat faced an unexpected setback as veteran guard Terry Rozier was spotted wearing a walking boot and using crutches. He has officially been ruled out for the second game of the first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rozier sprained his left ankle during a practice on Monday, which was deemed unnecessary. This adds to the frustration for Miami, especially after Rozier’s recent recovery from a neck injury.
“I just went to attack the basket, and Niko (Nikola Jokic) tried to block it. I just came down wrong, and that hurt my ankle,” Rozier explained and added by saying, “And I am super frustrated, but God always has His plans and works in mysterious ways. So I’m just going to stay positive, and I still get to watch my guys play, which is the most important thing to me.”
He confirmed that the injury isn’t serious and that he doesn’t need an MRI right now, stating, “It’s day to day. It’s already getting better, so hopefully it continues to improve.”
Terry Rozier’s Involvement Unlikely To Happen As Per Injury Update

As we look forward to the third matchup on Saturday, Terry’s availability on the court remains uncertain. Despite his attempts to downplay the severity of his injury and his comments about positive recovery, the visual evidence of him using crutches and wearing a walking boot strongly suggests that he will not be able to return in just four days.
Adding to his injury issues, he has often been out due to a concerning neck injury that restricted him from playing at the close of the regular season. Now, the ankle damage is adding more complications when the team is already facing difficulty with the shortage of available players.
Without the talent pool, including Rozier, Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra and his management must adjust their player rotation in the middle of the playoff series. In the first game, Young forwards Nikola Jovic and Pelle Larsson played just over a minute together, raising the question of whether Spoelstra will choose these younger rosters to complete the gap and fill an impactful role without the experienced player.

With a series deficit, Miami now faces the complicated challenge of filling the gap left by its veteran guard. Considering Rozier’s injury and the quickly approaching game 3, the Heat probably needs to explore the full extent of its roster and heavily depend on its bench to keep its playoff journey alive.
