The NBA has handed down suspensions following the heated altercation between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Donte DiVincenzo was among the players facing disciplinary action. However, fans are questioning whether his suspension was too lenient.
During the second quarter of the game at Target Center, tensions flared after Pistons rookie Ron Holland II fouled Timberwolves forward Naz Reid. The situation quickly escalated when Reid confronted Holland II, prompting Holland II to push DiVincenzo.

In response, DiVincenzo forcefully shoved Holland II in the chest, which led to a scuffle involving multiple players. The altercation spilled into the spectator stands, where Isaiah Stewart and Marcus Sasser joined in.
The league’s disciplinary action included suspensions for five players. Stewart received the longest suspension at two games, while DiVincenzo, Reid, Holland II, and Sasser were each given a one-game suspension.
Before this, the confrontation resulted in the ejections of seven individuals during the game. Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and Timberwolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni were also among them.

After the league’s declaration, some NBA fans believe the league went too easy on Donte DiVincenzo. Many argue that DiVincenzo’s actions warranted a longer suspension than Stewart’s two-game penalty.

According to reports, tensions between DiVincenzo and Stewart had been building throughout the game. The two exchanged words before the scuffle erupted. This underlying friction may have contributed to the rapid escalation of the fight.
In the game where the brawl occurred, DiVincenzo recorded six points, three rebounds, and three assists in ten minutes. For the suspension, DiVincenzo missed the New York Knicks’ game against the Denver Nuggets.
