Nevertheless, the post-victory festivities took an unfortunate turn as tensions heightened between Stephen Curry and President Donald Trump. Furthermore, LeBron James’s involvement in this discourse added further complexity to the evolving situation.
After winning the championship, the Warriors received an invitation to the White House. However, tensions escalated when President Donald Trump withdrew the invitation after NBA star Stephen Curry publicly indicated his unwillingness to participate in the event.
“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team.Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!” Trump wrote in his post on X (formerly Twitter).

Following Trump’s comment, James jumped in to stand up for Curry on social media, showing his support. He wrote, “U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up.”

The Lakers made commendable efforts during the 2024-25 NBA season in their quest for a championship. However, their journey came to a sudden halt in the first round of the playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves. This early playoff exit raised many questions about the team’s performance and its implications for the future. One of the most pressing questions revolves around James’ future in the league. In response, Dave McMenamin provided valuable insights on the Dan Patrick Show.
“I think he’ll be back. I think, listen, he’s done this similar song and dance ever since they lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. That was year 20. Last year, similar kind of sentiments when the season ended. That was 21. This year is 22. I think when you pass two decades in the league, you’re allowed to walk away from an arduous season and be like, ‘I got to think things through.’ But he’s going to be back,” McMenamin said.
Now 40 years old, James finds himself at a crossroads in his professional basketball career. There is intense speculation swirling around the league regarding his future. Fans and analysts are debating whether he will continue playing or consider retirement.
