The Miami Heat head into a crucial offseason with a clear goal of securing Tyler Herro’s long-term future. Following a breakout year that saw him earn his first all-star selection, the 24-year-old guard became eligible for a significant contract extension.
ESPN’s Bobby Marks reports that Herro could receive a three-year, $149.7 million offer starting this October. He then becomes eligible for a more expensive four-year, $206.9 million extension. If he earns all NBA honors in 2025-26, he could command a five-year supermax worth up to $380 million.

“Herro not only earned his first All-Star appearance but consistently put up All-NBA-caliber numbers,” Marks noted. The potential jump from $33 million to $50 million per year makes timing a major factor in negotiations.
With Herro emerging as Miami’s offensive leader, the Heat can’t afford to delay. Locking him early could save millions and secure the franchise’s future.
Tyler Herro’s On Court Contribution For His Team

Herro took over as the Heat‘s go-to scorer as Terry Rozier failed to deliver following Jimmy Butler’s exit. He averaged over 20 points for the fourth consecutive season, dished out 5.5 assists per game, and shot a career-best 47.2% from the field. With five games of 35 points or more, Herro proved he could carry the offensive load consistently.

His performance couldn’t have come at a better time. The Heat needed stability on offense, and Herro provided it. After years of injury concerns, he remained healthy throughout the season and solidified his place at the center of Miami’s game plan. With two years and $64 million left on his current deal, a new extension would lock him in through his prime time.
The heat from the office has a decision to make. Lock in Herro at a more manageable number, or risk a much higher bill next summer. One thing is sure: after a season like this, Herro is not just a key piece; He is the heart of the franchise.
