Tyrese Haliburton’s father, John Haliburton, returned to the arena after serving an eight-game ban. His absence had been a notable storyline, especially after Tyrese publicly pleaded for his father’s return. The Pacers ultimately honored Haliburton’s request, allowing John back into the building for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Pacers and the New York Knicks.
Tyrese Haliburton was clearly energized by his father’s return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. However, during the post-game press conference, the star guard was quick to clarify any misconceptions surrounding his father’s absence. He wanted to ensure the public didn’t misinterpret the chants and online slogans like “Free Pops” as literal.
“I know we’re saying free pops and pops was free, but he was not in jail, he happened to be in a very beautiful home sitting very pretty watching NBA basketball. He’s just fine,” Hali said.

With his father in attendance, Haliburton delivered a historic performance on Tuesday night. He recorded 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 15 assists without committing a single turnover. This stat line made Haliburton the first player in NBA postseason history to hit those numbers in a single game.

“To not have any turnovers, in any of those situations too, is pretty remarkable. But this has become his thing. There will be a new statistical category, perhaps named after him, somewhere down the line,” Carlisle said.
With the 130-121 win over the Knicks, the Pacers now lead the series 3-1. They are just one win away from closing it out and advancing to the NBA Finals. Their next chance comes Thursday in New York.
