The Phoenix Suns’ struggles continued on Wednesday night as they fell to the San Antonio Spurs, 109-120. It marked their fourth consecutive loss. Despite Kevin Durant’s determined performance, the Suns couldn’t overcome the Spurs’ balanced attack.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t just the scoreboard that grabbed attention. Rather, it was Durant’s intense, trash-talking exchange with Spurs veteran Chris Paul that stole the spotlight.
The fiery exchange began during a dead ball when Paul initiated the verbal battle. In leaked audio from the game, Paul was heard saying, “I know you,” which Durant quickly shot down with, “You don’t know sh*t about me.”
The back-and-forth didn’t end there. Paul fired back, “I know you, n****,” to which Durant was clearly fired up. He responded by confronting Paul directly.
“What you know about me? You’re acting like a pu**y. You don’t know me,” Durant said.

Kevin Durant Addresses His Trash Talking With Chris Paul
Though the situation didn’t escalate beyond words, the heated moment became the talking point of the night. After the game, Kevin Durant addressed the incident during the post-game press conference. The Suns star downplayed any lingering animosity as in his eyes Paul was just trying to irritate him.
“I was heating up a little bit right around that time too. I think he was just trying to get in my head, get me to react, and get me out the game. But as we kept talking, I know it was just a game,” Durant said.
With the loss, the Suns’ season record stands at 26-29. Meanwhile, despite Victor Wembanyama’s absence, the Spurs won the game and improved to 24-29 in the season.
