Mitchell Robinson fumbled, and he fumbled really hard.
During Game 2 between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics, Robinson’s struggle at the free-throw line stood out.
It’s a shame because Robinson is one of the best defensive centers in the NBA. His size, rebounding, and shot-blocking skills really elevate the Knicks’ defense. Unfortunately, his free-throw shooting is a bit of a sore spot that often keeps him from getting more minutes on the court.
With 8:27 left in the fourth quarter, the Knicks were down 84-70, and Robinson stepped up to the line, only to miss completely. He didn’t even hit the rim.

While making an attempt, he air-balled an open opportunity to score as the ball barely touched the net.
Soon after the video went viral, everybody started tagging it as what might be the worst free throw in NBA history. That’s too much of an accolade for a career like his.

Mitchell Robinson Had The Last Laugh Despite Free-Throw Fumble

Despite Mitchell Robinson’s free-throw mishap, the Knicks pulled off an incredible 91-90 victory over the Celtics in Game 2.
Just like in Game 1, they staged an impressive comeback from a 20-point deficit. Trailing 70-50 with just four minutes left in the third quarter, the Knicks went on a spectacular run and outscored Boston 41-20 for the rest of the game.
The Celtics struggled with their shooting yet again, hitting only 43% from the field and a dismal 29% from three-point range.
In comparison, New York wasn’t perfect either, but managed to find more success, finishing the game shooting 36.2% overall and 25% from beyond the arc.
