The more Draymond Green wants to stay away from controversy, the more it haunts him.
Recently, the Golden State Warriors’ superstar power forward went into a heated altercation with a fan sitting in the stands.
The catcalling started in the fourth quarter of the Timberwolves’ 117-93 win at Target Center. Dray engaged in the verbal exchange while on his exercise bike just at the doorway of the tunnel.
Almost immediately, the Minnesota fan was ejected for directing a racial slur at Green.

However, Witness Adna “Nana” Maxamed, a Warriors fan with season tickets to Timberwolves games, reported the incident. According to her, she observed two groups of fans on either side of the tunnel where Green was riding an exercise bike.
After Green reacted to the slurs by arguing with a nearby fan, that fan was ejected from the game. However, Maxamed clarified that the ejected fan was not one of those who had used the racial slur.

She informed the Warriors’ security personnel of her observations, indicating that the wrong person was ejected. The Timberwolves staff assured her that they would address the situation.
Draymond Green Sounds Frustrated After The Game

While the unfortunate situation led to the fan’s ejection, Draymond Green remained steadfast after the game.
Green’s fifth technical foul of the playoffs occurred during the Warriors’ 117-93 defeat to the Wolves in Game 2 of their second-round series. The foul was assessed after Green hit Minnesota’s Naz Reid with his elbow.
The foul, along with the tunnel incident, left him frustrated, and he eventually lashed out during the post-game conversation.
“I’m not an angry Black man. I’m a very successful, educated Black man with a great family. And I’m great at basketball, I’m great at what I do. The agenda to try to keep making me look like an angry Black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous,” Green said.

As of this point in the playoffs, Green is at risk of suspension. He needs to avoid two more technical fouls to prevent an automatic suspension. Throughout his career, he has been suspended six times, the latest instance occurring in 2023 for an incident involving Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić.
