The Golden State Warriors suffered a double blow Wednesday night. A painful loss to the Houston Rockets met the early exit of Jimmy Butler due to injury. Butler was ruled out just minutes into Game 2 after a hard fall. The Rockets went on to win 109-94 at the Toyota Center, evening the series at 1-1.
The injury occurred late in the first quarter when Butler went up for a rebound and attempted a put-back. In mid-air, Rockets guard Amen Thompson collided with him, sending both players to the floor. Butler had to leave the game after it.
Initially, it appeared that Draymond Green had made contact with Thompson, which led to the mid-air crash. But newly released slow-motion footage tells a different story.

New footage has triggered heated discussion. The clip shows that Draymond Green did not push Amen Thompson, contrary to what was first believed. Instead, it appears Thompson launched himself into Butler’s back, which resulted in a dangerous and unnecessary collision.
Following the fall, Butler remained on the court in visible pain while Thompson recovered more quickly. The Warriors announced early in the second quarter that Butler would not return, officially diagnosing him with a pelvic contusion.

Following the game, Anthony Slater offered an important update on Butler’s condition. Butler is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the damage.
“MRI expected tomorrow for Jimmy Butler, per source. Warriors have dealt with a couple of these pelvic contusions recently after similar falls from Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga. Curry missed two games. Kuminga missed one. Then it became a pain management issue,” Slater reported on X.
Regardless, the result was disastrous for Butler and the Warriors. The veteran forward was forced to leave the game after just eight minutes of action, finishing with three points and two rebounds. All eyes are now on Butler’s MRI results and his availability for Game 3, scheduled for Saturday.
