Gun gestures have become a trendy celebration in the NBA, but the league is cracking down hard on such behavior. Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant recently faced the consequences, receiving a hefty $75,000 fine for using the gesture during a game. The incident sent a message across the league, making players think twice before imitating it. Detroit Pistons Marcus Sasser appeared to take the warning to heart.
In the second quarter of the Pistons’ Friday night clash against the Toronto Raptors, Sasser knocked down a key bucket to push the Pistons ahead 40-32. Initially, his reaction hinted at an urge to follow up with a gun gesture.
However, Sasser quickly pulled his hands back, likely reminded of Morant’s punishment. His expression immediately changed, clearly reflecting concern and a sense of regret as he realized the potential consequences.

Sasser isn’t unfamiliar with the NBA’s disciplinary standards. He had just served a one-game suspension for his involvement in a scuffle during Detroit’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The altercation resulted in multiple suspensions, with Sasser, Donte DiVincenzo, Naz Reid, and Holland II each missing a game, while Isaiah Stewart received a two-game ban.
Marcus Sasser’s Pistons Dominate The Toronto Raptors

Despite the off-court tension, Friday was a high note for the Pistons. They secured a solid 117-105 win over the Raptors. Tim Hardaway Jr. led the scoring with 23 points and three rebounds, while Jalen Duren and Malik Beasley contributed 21 points each.

Marcus Sasser missed the previous game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to his suspension but returned strong. He added a solid performance with ten points, four rebounds, one assist, and a steal, shooting 3-for-6 from the field and 1-for-3 from deep in just 20 minutes.
However, Detroit couldn’t maintain their momentum, falling to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. The Pistons now sit at 43-35, currently holding the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference as the playoff race heats up.
