The game itself seemed to be going in Indiana’s favor through three quarters. By the end of the third quarter, the Pacers were in command with a 20-point lead. However, the script flipped later.
Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a masterful performance in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points on his own. In contrast, the entire Indiana Pacers team combined for just 20 points in the same period. This dominant effort from Towns led the New York Knicks to erase the 20-point deficit and ultimately steal the win on Sunday night, cutting the Pacers’ series lead to 2-1.

In 2024, Reggie Miller revealed his feelings about the Knicks during an appearance on The Mark Jackson Show. He criticized the franchise and its fans, calling them “frontrunners.”
“This is why I cannot stand the Knicks. To me, they’re frontrunners. They think that they’re God’s gift to basketball. Don’t front run when you guys are up, and then you guys want to talk stuff. There’s 30 seconds left on the clock, and then you’re finally gonna win the game. That’s when the chants start,” Miller said.
The last time these two franchises met in the Eastern Conference Finals was a quarter-century ago. Back in 2000, with Miller still leading the way, the Pacers defeated the Knicks in six games to reach the NBA Finals. Now, fans hope that this current Indiana team can capture the same spirit and again emerge victorious against their old rivals.
