The Oklahoma City Thunder made a clear statement in Game 2 of the NBA Finals by refusing to stumble after their opening loss. On Sunday night, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again rose to the occasion and led his team to a 123-107 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
From the very first quarter, OKC took control of the game. One of the most memorable moments came in the third quarter when the Thunder, trailing 85-67, saw Shai Gilgeous-Alexander score over Bennedict Mathurin. Immediately after the basket, SGA hit Mathurin with a cold “too small” gesture to ignite the home crowd and swing the momentum back to OKC.

Although Indiana managed to chip away at the lead at different points in the second half, the Thunder’s composure never wavered. Their bench stepped up in a major way to dominate the game and put the finishing touches on a critical win that evened the series at 1-1.
In a historic team effort, Oklahoma City had five players finish with at least 15 points. That kind of balanced scoring hasn’t been seen in an NBA Finals game since the legendary 1968 Boston Celtics achieved the same feat.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Record-Breaking Night

Gilgeous-Alexander wrapped up Game 2 with 34 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. He has now tied LeBron James and Michael Jordan for the most games in postseason history with at least 30 points and five assists (11).

Shai also reached a major milestone by scoring the first basket of the night. He now has over 3,000 total points this season, becoming just the 12th player in NBA history to hit that mark when combining the regular season and playoffs.
According to Poly Market Sport, as the series progresses, SGA remains the heavy favorite to claim the Finals MVP title.
