At the time the Doncic trade took place, the NBA ratings were plummeting. With the NFL significantly winning the Christmas Day battle, the NBA had to pull off something spectacular. Thus, as per the speculations, the NBA officials initiated talks between the two “as early as February 2024.” And quite frankly, the formula worked.
After the transfer, the ratings shot up, the jersey sales surged, and the NBA X handle went overboard with reactions. But did the Dallas Mavericks jump into the trade blindly? Well, no. As per the rumors, the NBA promised Dallas that they would be “taken care of.” And with the latest draft pick releases, it looks like the rumors might be true!

And there’s more. The odds of the Mavericks winning the 2025 NBA Draft lottery were almost negligible. They just had a 1.8% chance of winning. And it was the fourth-worst odds. Fans became all the more frustrated as the San Antonio Spurs and the Philadelphia 76ers secured the second and third spots.
