James has until June 29 to make his final call.
James wrapped up his 22nd NBA season, averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists on 51.3% shooting. The number indicates a good enough performance to earn AA-NBA second team honors. Despite a strong season, the Lakers fell in the first round of the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves. They made big offseason moves, including hiring JJ Redick and drafting Bronny James.
Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Charania said James is likely to opt in and wants to remain in a competitive environment.“There’s gonna be some hard conversations that are gonna happen between him [and] the Lakers,” Charania said. “Seeing what this team looks like. Because LeBron James, whether he plays one more season or a few more seasons, wants to be in a competitive environment,” he added further.
