A former Seton Hall baseball player filed a lawsuit alleging hazing, abuse, and misconduct within the team.
The former pitcher, whose name has not been publicly identified, said he was “spitting blood everywhere” during one incident, and the hazing dashed his dream of making the big leagues.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was 17 years old at the time and further alleged that he was subject to sexual and physical abuse that resulted in physical and emotional harm and eventually led to him leaving the team.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in New York federal court, is against Seton Hall University, head baseball coach Rob Sheppard, and three team members.
The university is already embroiled in two lawsuits involving its previous president and an archdiocese. The current lawsuit levies an accusation of “coerced sexual exposure, physical assault, sexualized rituals and retaliatory ostracization” that “created a hostile and unsafe environment, causing significant physical, emotional, academic, and professional harm” to the plaintiff.
The plaintiff is described as living in Suffolk County, New York.
The Seton Hall baseball hazing allegations are deeply disturbing. Rob Shepard, Ryan Ramiz, Giuseppe Papaccio, Jimmy Moran, Vince Esposito and Michael Casaleggio need to take accountability. If they knew ANY of this was happening in their locker room then they need to be fired.…

The lawsuit also added claims that nude and violent wrestling, as well as a masturbation ritual, are just some of the hazing incidents. The player in the lawsuit claims he was forced to show his genitals to other players and would be referred to as a “Pu–y” if he did not agree to it.
“What’s going on in the locker room is some sick, sick stuff,” the player told the New York Post about the culture at Seton Hall.
The player eventually quit the team and left the school before even playing a game.
A Seton Hall official said the school “is firmly committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.”
Former Seton Hall Baseball Player Suffered Injuries Due To Hazing

A former Seton Hall baseball player filed a lawsuit against the university Wednesday, alleging a culture of violent hazing and accusing the head coach of allowing it to happen.
The player, identified only as John Doe in the complaint, was a 17-year-old freshman from Suffolk County, New York, who attended Seton Hall this fall but transferred to a Division III school.
The complaint alleges that the plaintiff was subject to sexual and physical abuse that resulted in physical and emotional harm.
The plaintiff is seeking a minimum $1 million award and a requirement from Seton Hall to implement anti-hazing training, among other reliefs.
