
Less than three years after signing a lucrative five-year deal with the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders has already landed another massive extension with the football program.
According to a report from Brian Howell of Boulder Daily Camera and BuffZone, Deion Sanders has signed a new five-year deal worth a whopping $54 million. Sanders had three years left on his previous contract, but the new deal keeps him signed through the 2029 season.
Sanders will make $10 million in 2025 and 2026, with his salary bumping to $11 million in 2027 and 2028. The two-time Super Bowl champion will get another increase to $12 million for 2029.

After three years at Jackson State, Coach Prime signed a five-year deal with the Buffaloes worth $29.5 million. Though Colorado has gone just 13-12 over his first two seasons, Sanders’ celebrity status and marketing skills have made the Buffaloes a media hot spot.
As Howell noted, the Buffaloes’ football team drew more than 54 million viewers for the 2024 season. The football club’s Instagram account went from 63,000 followers to 1.1 million under Sanders, per Howell.
In 2024, it was reported that the Buffaloes’ six 2023 home games at Folsom Field generated $113.2 million in economic impact. So from a purely financial standpoint, Deion Sanders is worth every penny for the university.

The Buffaloes went 4-8 in year one under Deion Sanders in 2023, but they rebounded with an impressive 9-3 regular season record. The Buffs’ season ended with a 36-14 loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl.
