Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy tragically took his own life at the age of 24 – days before he was due in court, accused of negligent homicide.
Lacy was considered one of the top prospects coming out of college football ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.
Lacy was arrested on January 13 after local police issued a warrant over a December 17 car crash that killed a 78-year-old Louisiana man.
It was a tragic situation all around.
Lacy was accused of driving recklessly – speeding and passing in a no-passing zone – when a motorist, who was swerving to avoid Lacy´s Dodge Charger, crashed head-on into another vehicle. He was also alleged to have fled the scene.
Fast forward to June 2025 and now EA Sports College Football 26 plans to honor him.
It has been reported that the popular game will put his signature celebration in the game. Kyren Lacy was known for dancing on the field, whether he was scoring or on the sidelines.

What Led To Kyren Lacy Taking His Own Life?

Kyren Lacy was a 6-foot-2 Southeastern Conference football player with a smile and charisma that could light up any room he stepped into.
Some sports analysts even predicted that the Louisiana State University senior might go to a National Football League team as early as this year’s second round of the draft.
Instead, Lacy died by suicide at 24 and was buried on the final day of the NFL draft.
Lacy had talked with friends for years about wanting to get into the NFL and the league’s pay that would eliminate his family’s financial worries.
It was reported that Lacy was found dead in Houston at the end of a chase.
A deputy constable reportedly found Lacy driving after he allegedly shot into the ground during an argument with a family member.
A several-mile chase ensued and ended when Lacy reportedly shot himself and crashed.
