Karmelo Anthony already has enough on his plate as he prepares for the fight of his life, but now, the judge who basically allowed him to get out of jail has to deal with major backlash.
Anthony had been in custody since April 2, when he was arrested and accused of killing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet.
The 17-year-old was released from jail Monday after his bond was significantly lowered.
After an hourlong hearing at the county courthouse in McKinney on Monday morning, state District Judge Angela Tucker lowered Anthony’s bond from $1 million to $250,000.
She has now become the center of attention.
While under house arrest, Tucker said Karmelo Anthony would only be permitted to leave home with her permission. He will also need to be with an adult at all times. He cannot contact the Metcalf family, even on social media.
Collin County district judge Angela Tucker, who was elected as a Republican, has been receiving racist attacks after reducing Anthony’s bond. Some social media accounts have even posted her image online and slammed her for her actions.

TMZ Sports is now reporting that the Collin County Sheriff’s Office says it has increased protection for Tucker.
“The CCSO said ‘court staff and concerned citizens’ reported the menacing remarks made against the official … and now, its team of investigators, as well as the FBI are probing the matter,” TMZ Sports said.
“Additionally, the CCSO told us it’s on the hunt for any party who has released private and personal information about the judge to the public.”
In the meantime, the family of Karmelo Anthony plans to use his $400,000 legal defense fund to move into a new home and hire security after facing racist threats.
They will also be in a gated community.

Karmelo Anthony has an uphill battle for his life after he allegedly took the life of Austin Metcalf.
The 17-year-old stabbed football star Metcalf in the chest as the two attended a Texas track meet.
Austin Metcalf is dead over an incident that is said to have been started over him telling Karmelo he needed to move out of a seated area.
