Suppose you’re one of the thousands heading home from San Antonio after this weekend’s exciting Final Four. In that case, there’s one small but important detail to remember, especially if you picked up an official game program. Before you even think about tossing it in your checked bag, TSA wants a word.
“Put game program in carry-on,” the official Final Four account posted on X/Twitter Sunday morning. “DO NOT put any #MFinalFour programs in your checked baggage. Safe Travels!”
It might sound like a strange ask, but there’s a very specific reason behind it—and it could save you time and hassle at the airport.
Why It Matters: TSA Screening Delays

The NCAA warned that the commemorative programs at the Final Four could cause airport delays due to their thick, glossy paper. According to the NCAA, the TSA flagged the paper’s bulk as a security issue requiring hand inspection in most cases.
The same warning was issued earlier this year during the College Football Playoff National Championship, so this is becoming a postgame tradition.
