If college football had a free agency headline of the year, this would be it.
Felix Ojo, the five-star offensive tackle who stands a shocking 6-foot-7 and tips the scale at 285 pounds, just inked a fully guaranteed, three-year revenue-sharing NIL deal worth around $5.1 million. He made it official after committing to Texas Tech on July 4. His agent, Derrick Shelby, confirmed the news to ESPN on Friday.
The deal doesn’t just shake things up. It bulldozes the old NIL ceiling. It’s one of the largest contracts signed by a high school recruit since NIL rules kicked the doors open. Ojo, ranked No. 20 overall in the ESPN 300 and No. 4 among tackles, just changed the game, and probably the recruiting pitch at Texas Tech forever.
Texas Tech Breaks The Bank, Ojo Sets The Standard

“Football is a brutal sport,” Shelby told ESPN. “Athletes aren’t even eligible for the NFL until three years after high school. So securing Felix’s future now was a top priority.”
The Lake Ridge High School standout had no shortage of offers. Powerhouses like Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, and Ole Miss all wanted him. But Ojo chose the Red Raiders, and the Red Raiders chose to go all in.
This is the biggest recruiting win for Texas Tech since ESPN began tracking in 2006. And it comes during a high-spending spree in Lubbock. Tech poured over $10 million into 17 transfer portal additions this offseason, signaling they’re serious about turning things around.

They’re coming off an 8-5 season, with a 6-3 Big 12 record and a Liberty Bowl loss to Arkansas. Not bad, but not the double-digit win glory they haven’t tasted since 2008. Ojo’s arrival could change that.
He follows in the footsteps of former Tech lineman Caleb Rogers, who just went in the third round to the Raiders in the 2025 NFL Draft. But make no mistake, Ojo’s ceiling looks even higher.
This move mirrors a similar $5 million-plus deal signed by Jackson Cantwell at Miami earlier this year. But Ojo’s fully guaranteed contract puts him in rare air.
Texas Tech isn’t just playing catch-up anymore. They’re swinging big, and in Felix Ojo, they may have just landed the anchor their future needs.
