The Florida Gators have made it official. A little more than a month after cutting down the nets in San Antonio, the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball champions are heading to the nation’s capital.
After some speculation about whether the team would accept an invitation, head coach Todd Golden and his squad have confirmed their visit to the White House. The announcement came Sunday morning, and according to a school spokesman, the Gators will meet with President Trump in Washington on Wednesday, May 21.

Florida capped off an unforgettable season by beating Houston in the national title game, claiming the program’s first NCAA championship since the Billy Donovan era in the mid-2000s. Golden’s team entered the tournament as a No. 1 seed in the West Region and never looked back, putting together a dominant run that ended with the ultimate prize.
Now, they’ll join other recent champions who made the trip to the White House. In recent years, some college and professional teams have declined such invitations. This year, however, several major programs including the Eagles, Dodgers, and Ohio State Buckeyes have all visited the White House to celebrate titles with President Trump. Florida will add its name to that list this week.
College basketball reporter Jon Rothstein shared the update Sunday morning, tweeting, “The Florida Gators — the 2025 National Champions — will be visiting the White House on Wednesday, per a school spokesman.”

The visit marks another milestone for Golden, who took over the program just a few years ago. Florida’s return to national fame under his leadership has sparked new energy in Gainesville. For the players, the White House visit adds another layer of recognition to a season that fans won’t forget anytime soon.
With the championship trophy displayed back home, the Gators now get to celebrate on one of the biggest stages outside of basketball. The team will travel to Washington this week to meet President Trump and represent the university nationally.
This visit won’t change next season’s rankings or recruiting boards, but it adds another memory to an unforgettable season. The Gators secured their place in history on the court, and now the White House will honor them for it.
