In the social media age, almost anybody can post something online and thousands, if not millions of people will take it as truth.
On Thursday, league co-founder Bill Polian told Lindsay Jones of The Athletic that CEO Charlie Ebersol reached out to former San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick to see if he would be interested in playing.
“I don’t know what transpired, but he’s obviously not playing,” Polian said Thursday.
That prompted The Associated Press to state that Kaepernick asked the league for $20 million to play.
As it turns out,, that was fake news, according to NFL insider Benjamin Allbright.
It seems the fake leak was just a ploy to make Kaepernick seem like the villain to pit the masses against him.
