Ole Miss quarterback Austin Simmons is graduating from college at just 19 years old after taking an unorthodox route through college.
Simmons is tipped to be the starting quarterback for the Rebels as a redshirt sophomore next season and will be working toward a Master’s degree by the time he starts playing.
That’s actually quite something. The teenager will get his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi sometime this month, although he’s only spent two years. While he should be getting to college in August to kick off his freshman year, he’s already graduating.
How he did it is pretty intriguing.
Simmons, referred to as a genius, opted to ramp up his education in the 6th grade. He was able to take high school courses online as he began homeschooling and did so seven days a week, even during the summer holidays.
He also prepared for the SAT while taking high school courses in middle school, allowing him to graduate from high school ahead of what would have been his ninth-grade year, which was actually when he started his freshman year in college.

He got his Associate’s Degree at the age of a 10th grader.
Austin Simmons Had A Marked Advantage Over Other Players In His Class

Austin Simmons was then able to reclassify from the class of 2025 to 2023, having already secured a two-year college degree. Then he flipped his commitment from Florida to Ole Miss, with the school allowing him to play both football and baseball.
The QB took a football redshirt and played for the baseball program as a freshman.
It became clear that his future was in football last year when, as a backup, he took over from an injured Jaxson Dart and immediately led a scoring drive against Georgia. Head coach Lane Kiffin held talks with the necessary parties to ensure he would only focus on football.
He’s now set to start for the Rebels as a redshirt sophomore this year while chasing a Master’s.
