Karmelo Anthony has seen his bond reduced significantly following a court hearing on Monday.
The 17-year-old stands accused of stabbing Austin Metcalf, another 17-year-old, to death during a track meet between their high schools earlier this month and has admitted to the crime, though he has said he was defending himself.
Following Anthony’s arrest, a bond of $1 million was initially set. However, per TMZ, the sum has been slashed by a whopping $750,000. Of course, $250,000 is still plenty for anyone to come up with on a whim, but he has already received plenty of cash in donations.

Speaking in court on Monday, the student’s attorney, Mike Howard, said his client had no history of criminal activity, and the bond was unreasonably high.
Prosecutors argued that the bond should remain as it’s standard procedure for murder cases in Collin County, Texas.
“Give this young man a chance to get out of jail and be with his family,” Howard urged.

Karmelo Anthony Expected To Be Back Home Soon

Judge Angela Tucker saw it the defense’s way and ordered Karmelo Anthony to wear an ankle monitor and to remain home should he make bail. Of course, he’s very likely to do so as the GoFundMe created to help pay for his legal fees has already raised $414,000.
Anthony’s father, Andrew Anthony, was interviewed by the New York Post and told the publication that his son was not the aggressor and that Austin Metcalf and his friends were responsible for escalating the situation.
The youngster, who has been behind bars since his arrest on April 2, is still in custody. But he should be back with his family soon, given the massive reduction in his bail.
