Football fans are disappointed with the Ohio State Buckeyes’ decision to visit President Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate their College Football Playoff National Championship triumph.
It’s a long-standing tradition for champions in the NCAA and professional sports leagues to visit the President of the United States at the White House, with the President personally extending an invitation.
But not all athletes and championship-winning teams went to visit Donald Trump during his first term in office. He memorably canceled the invitations for the 2017 NBA champion Golden State Warriors and Super Bowl 52 champion Philadelphia Eagles when multiple players said they wouldn’t attend.
Additionally, some players from the 2018 Boston Red Sox and 2018 New England Patriots declined to visit President Trump after winning it all. This included Mookie Betts, Alex Cora, Devin and Jason McCourty.
According to a report from CBS News, however, Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes football team will visit President Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate their national championship.
There was no shortage of fans who expressed their disappointment with the Buckeyes for visiting the polarizing POTUS:

At the end of the day, the Buckeyes would face criticism regardless of their decision. But Coach Day and company have decided to keep up with the tradition by visiting the President at the White House.
