Cameras caught University of North Carolina football head coach Bill Belichick dropping all sorts of epic sound bites during the team’s recent spring practice session.
In December, Bill Belichick signed a lucrative five-year deal worth $50 million to take over as the head coach of the Tar Heels’ football program. This will be Belichick’s first college football coaching position, as he was employed by an NFL team every year from 1975 to 2023.
We’re still nearly five months away from Belichick’s UNC coaching debut, but he’s wasting no time leaving his no-nonsense and all-discipline mark on the football team.
A new video has surfaced of a mic’d up Belichick dropping all sorts of priceless sound bites on his new team during spring practice. They’re not quite as good as “We’re on to Cincinnati,” but there’s definitely some vintage Belichick stuff in there.
Among them: We gotta get the gloves on these guys,” and “Tackle in front, stay off the quarterback.”

Bill Belichick’s contract with UNC carries a $10 million buyout if he chooses to terminate the contract before June 1. If he were to opt out of the contract afterward, the cost would only be $1 million.
But with all 32 NFL head coaching positions accounted for, Belichick obviously isn’t about to make a return to the NFL. If things go one in his first year at Chapel Hill, however, he could garner plenty more interest in the 2026 NFL HC hiring cycle.
