Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is expected to be absent for two games next season due to a self-imposed punishment by the university.
According to ESPN, the decision stems from the Connor Stalions scandal that rocked the program during their run to the national title in 2023/24.
“Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore is expected to be suspended for two games for the upcoming 2025 season as part of self-imposed sanctions by the university for the Connor Stalions advanced scouting scandal, industry sources told ESPN,” the Worldwide Leader in Sports reported on Monday morning.

More will begin the season with the Wolverines and take charge of their second game. However, he is expected to be out for their game against Central Michigan in Week 3 and their Week 4 fixture vs. Nebraska.
The head coach will not be able to take part in any team-related activities during the period, while he’s also set to receive other penalties related to recruiting infringements.

While Michigan has handed down a suspension, it doesn’t exempt Moore from penalties from the NCAA. The college athletics governing body can still punish him despite the above.
It is expected that the matter will come to a close before the beginning of the season.
The Wolverines will play their season opener against New Mexico and follow that up with a game against Oklahoma, where Moore played as an offensive guard from 2006 to 2007 after transferring from Butler Community College.
Moore was accused of committing a Level 2 violation as part of the scandal, as it is alleged that he deleted a thread of 52 text messages from a conversation with Stalions. He surrendered them to investigators after they were recovered via device imaging.
